Colombian born Menswear designer Carlos Rico studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, finishing with an Associates Degree in Menswear; A strong two year technical degree with an emphasis on construction and development. While in New York City he was able to immerse himself in American Fashion, working as a design assistant to Womanswear Designer Benjamin Cho.

Not long after finishing his degree in FIT, he was given a place on the Menswear course in the world-renowned Central Saint Martins College in London. While studying in London he was very fortunate to have a stint working for Alexander McQueen in menswear, gaining experience in luxury and in European sensibility. In 2006 he was able to complete his degree, gaining a BA Honours in Menswear with a Collection that debuted during London Graduate Fashion Week. The collection was a statement on the current youth culture of London and the Initial experience he had during his time in America; referencing American youth culture of 1950's cinema. The result was a bold collection that was also rich in original accessories designed by Lotta Verona.

The collection was a standout success and earned Carlos a place on the prestigious MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins College under the tutelage of Louise Wilson. While there he was able to take his strong American technical background and newly earned European sensibility and focus on work geared towards luxury. The culmination of the course was a collection of tone on tone depth; unexpected textures through fabric manipulation creating subtle differences between the senses. Initially inspired by American shaped garments and details from Teddy Boys of the 1960's, it unexpectedly became a study into fabric dexterity.

The collection was successful thanks in part to a sponsorship by Camper Shoes, earning Carlos Rico his Masters in Fashion Menswear in the spring of 2008.
